Before you can gather Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence data during a session, a Behavior Incidents program should be created. Antecedents, target behaviors, and consequences can be added within this program for simple, easy documentation during sessions.
Objective – In this space, you can document an overall goal for your client from ABC observations.
Groups – Add three groups titled: Antecedents, Behaviors, and Consequences. To do so, simply select Add Group and enter the category title.
Quick tip:Add “Location” as an additional group to easily document the setting in which ABC episodes take place.
Targets – List the various options you want to have available for selection by selecting Add Item under the relevant group title.
Collecting ABC data #
To collect ABC data during a session, click on the icon on the top right side of your screen. The timer can be used, or start and end times of behavior episodes can be manually entered. Select behaviors within each category that has been set up using the drop-down boxes. You have the option to add relevant notes about that episode as well. Click on Save Entry below to record the episode and continue with your session.
Did you know?ABC data can be collected any time while a session is running, and it can also be collected on a client’s profile when a session is not currently in play. Simply select the icon on the top right side of your screen, and you’ll be good to go!
*Unlike other programs, the ABC data is not specifically linked to a particular session. As this component is present across all environments, once you’ve created your ABC program, you do not need to specifically add it to any of your scheduled sessions.
