Clean Claim Rate in ABA: How Ascend Behavior Partners Reached 99%+ With Hi Rasmus and Boost

Ascend Behavior Partners, an early-intervention ABA provider in Colorado and Arizona, reached a clean claim rate in ABA above 99% by pairing Hi Rasmus for clinical data with Boost for practice management and revenue cycle management. Co-founder Jonathan Mueller explains why he tracks this metric above all others.

Ascend serves children ages 0 to 6 through in-home and center-based care, with more than 150 staff. About 80% of the families they serve have Medicaid as primary or secondary insurance.

“It’s the most important metric that is both predictive and influenceable of your ultimate cash collection, and it’s kind of crazy that no one in the industry regularly reports on it.” — Jonathan Mueller, Co-Founder, Ascend Behavior Partners

Why does clean claim rate matter for an ABA practice?
Before Boost, Ascend collected 93%+ of claims through a billing partner. Jonathan wanted a leading measure of collections and chose clean claim rate, the share of claims that go out correct and get paid without rework. He sees it as the one metric a provider can influence that also predicts cash collected.

How do Hi Rasmus and Boost work together?
Ascend kept Hi Rasmus and changed everything around it. Boost handles eligibility, authorizations, credentialing, and scheduling. Hi Rasmus captures what happens in session, and Boost turns that documented care into a clean claim.

What results has Ascend seen?
Since starting Boost RCM in January 2025 and Boost Practice Management in July 2025, Ascend has held a clean claim rate above 99%, with many weeks at 100%. First-pass yield is above 92%, and more than 98% of claims were collected within 90 days, three months running.

“Boost is the first one I’m aware of that has built the technology first from the perspective of: we need you to get paid for the services you provide. That’s foundational to why we’ve had the success we’ve had.” — Jonathan Mueller, Co-Founder, Ascend Behavior Partners
